Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation
Here at Clear Cut Physio, we pride ourselves on providing multidisciplinary neurological physiotherapy for those at any stage of stroke recovery.
Often those being discharged from the hospital have to wait some time to be allocated a Community Physiotherapist, and as we know, with any stage of stroke, time matters. Starting rehabilitation needs to start within 48 hours after a stroke to help overcome any paralysis or weakness.

Stroke and neurological physiotherapy assessment and treatment
When a stroke occurs, parts of the brain become damaged or die. Dead brain cells can’t start working again, but it is possible to relearn lost abilities with neurological physiotherapy.
This is called Neuroplasticity. This term is an “umbrella term”, which refers to the brain’s ability to re-learn, modify, change and adapt by forming new neural (nerve cells) connections throughout the brain. The sooner we start rebuilding, the better the outcome for a stroke victim.
Due to the complexities of the brain, people with neurological problems can have various issues. These may be muscle stiffness or spasm (commonly called spasticity), muscle weakness, tremor, or problems with sensation. These symptoms can lead to problems with everyday activities such as walking, getting dressed and feeding.
Every rehabilitation journey is unique, so each patient that comes to us at our stroke rehab centre receives a tailored treatment plan. Our treatment plans are designed to meet both the expectations of the patient and physiotherapist.
When a patient cannot attend the centre, your physiotherapist will come to your home to ensure each session is completed on schedule. Our team will also include exercises and targets that you can perform between your rehab sessions.
We make the most of your recovery time, meet the targets set out within the plan, and maximise independent recovery potential for you or your loved one.
Clearcut physiotherapists are specially trained in the analysis of ‘normal movement’.
Clearcut physiotherapists are also specially trained in the Movement Science approach to neurological rehabilitation. It involves in-depth knowledge of ‘normal movement” in ‘normal situations’ and how biomechanics of the body allows for efficient movement.
