Physiotherapy uses specialized treatments to help your muscles, joints and nerves move and feel pain-free. These specialized treatments will enhance your bodies healing, helping to repair damage reducing pain and stiffness.
Initial Assessment:
In your first appointment an initial assessment will be carried out to determine which structure of the body is damaged or in pain, so the most appropriate and effective treatment can be carried out. A detailed history of your symptoms will be taken and then a physical examination will follow. Your posture, movement, muscle length, strength and a variety of special tests will be carried out to identify the cause and any contributing factors. We often will use manual therapy to help reduce pain and a specific exercise program tailored to you and a course of physiotherapy treatment sessions. Occasionally you will be referred to a consultant if further investigations are necessary.
